wifehood 101

I could probably be called a typical newlywed. So that basically means that I don’t know very much about being a wife yet (have you seen my apartment??). But God knows a LOT about how to be successful at something. So thankfully, He passed along some great secrets to me about how to be a GOOD wife. Let me share them with you. (Hint: read Proverbs 31)

#1. Develop virtue (n., moral excellence; goodness; righteousness)

#2. Be capable (adj., having power and ability; efficient; competent)

#3. Be trustworthy

#4. Enrich your husband’s life (you can get really creative with this one)

#5.  Look out for his wellbeing, don’t hurt him in any way

#6. Get up really early and make him FOOD (what all guys really like)

#7. Be organized. Plan the day’s events ahead of time.

#8. Be a smart shopper. Know what you are buying.

#9. Invest your earnings wisely.

#10. Be energetic, strong, and a hard worker.

#11. Don’t waste time; work late into the night.

#12. Keep yourself busy. If there’s work to do, do it.

#13. Help people in need.

#14. Clothe your family.

#15. Learn to sew! (this can help with #14)

#16. Dress nicely (God thinks what you wear says a lot about you)

#17. Have strength and dignity.

#18. Don’t be afraid of the future.

#19. Speak with wisdom.

#20. Give kind instruction.

#21. Look after your house.

#22. Don’t be lazy!

#23.  Fear (respect/obey) God!

Here’s another little secret…If you  are really good at doing these things, here are some benefits:

- Your children will speak well of you
- Your husband will praise you
- Your actions will speak volumes about your character
- Your husband will have a good reputation! (think about it)

You can probably break down Proverbs 31 into 3 main ways to be a good wife.

#1 Look inward (develop your inner character)
#2 Look outward (let your character shine through your actions)
#3 Look upward (fear God and use His divine wisdom)
